Natural Bug Spray that WORKS!

Natural Bug Spray that WORKS!
July 23, 2019Kehoe Family ChiropracticLiving the Chiropractic Lifestyle

Nothing ruins outdoor activities like pesky biting insects. However, the dangers of using DEET containing insecticides are a concern for many.  DEET works like a chemical weapon by damaging an insects nervous system. Unfortunately, DEET also can have lasting harmful effects on humans.   When applied topically, DEET gets absorbed through the skin and passes into the blood stream. Rashes, muscle twitching, confusion, slurred speech, seizures and even death have been reported side effects after DEET exposure.

Unlike DEET containing pesticides, natural bug repellants work by   interfering with the “scent” of carbon dioxide, making it difficult for pesky biting bugs to find their next meal. Bug repellants do not kill insects; rather they prevent them from zeroing-in on your skin.

Neem oil is a natural, effective alternative to DEET containing insecticides.  Neem oil works by disrupting the hormone system of biting and sucking insects.  It does not kill bugs, instead it temporarily disrupts their desire to eat.  Neem oil is effective in small  concentrations and is non-toxic.  In fact, Neem oil offers health benefits to skin as it is rich in Vitamin E and acts as an antibacterial moisturizer.

Natural Mosquito Spray

1 Tablespoon Neem Oil

1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract

4 ounces Coconut Oil or soybean oil*

2 ounces Isopropyl Alcohol or Witch Hazel

10-20 drops Essential oils of geranium, eucalyptus, lemon balm or peppermint in combination or by themselves.

Pour mixture into a spray bottle, shake and apply as needed.

* Use soybean oil for use in temperatures below 76 degrees.

FAQs

Every doctor of chiropractic has completed 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience in the areas of orthopedics, neurology, physiology, human anatomy, clinical diagnosis, diagnostic imaging, exercise, nutrition, rehabilitation and more. Most chiropractic students have an additional undergraduate bachelor’s degree in pre-med studies. This makes the education for doctors of chiropractic among the most stringent of any of the health care professions.

However, there are some variations between chiropractic colleges. Some have more emphasis on developing highly skilled adjusters and there are also differences between doctors of chiropractic and their desire to become proficiently skilled in their adjusting techniques. At Kehoe Family Chiropractic the doctors have invested further resources beyond what is standard in order to become skilled in the Gonstead technique. What’s more is that the doctors at Kehoe Family Chiropractic are passionate about their work and consider it a blessing to be able to help so many people experience better health and vitality. Perhaps that is why we are so different? Regardless, we are glad you noticed.

The function of your spine can influence the way your brain perceives what is going on in your body. When you have a misalignment in your spine, it affects the way your brain tells your body to move. Chiropractic care helps restore motion and improves the way your body functions. This not only helps switch off pain sensors in the brain but can also produce specific neurotransmitters that help your body work better too. The result is optimal function and feeling great!
