THE GONSTEAD CHIROPRACTIC EXAM

Specifically targeting the source of your problem

YOUR CHIROPRACTIC EXAM

Your doctor of chiropractic, will be very thorough during your examination.   A specific examination will help identify the cause of your problem (s) or how we can optimize your current health status.  Our examination includes; a visual assessment of postural imbalances, a Nervoscope evaluation,  a hands-on spinal exam,  a state-of-the-art Myovision Scan and full-spine, weight bearing digital x-rays.

Chiropractors are doctors of the spine and nervous system.  In order to best evaluate the health of both, your doctor will ask to see your spine.  For women this means they will change into one of our very comfortable and ever popular gowns. Men will be asked to remove their shirts.  Not doing so would be like going to the dentist and not opening your mouth.

FEATURES

The health of your spine is directly related to your posture.  Maintaining a straight, confident posture is easy when your spine is healthy.  Rolled shoulders,  a hunched back, uneven hips  or a foot that rotates in or out are all signs of poor posture.  Your Chiropractor will take note of these signs and will discuss the ways Gonstead Chiropractic can help improve a weak posture.

The Nervo-Scope reliably detects and measures minute heat differences in the tissues along your spine. Your doctor of chiropractic will comfortably glide this instrument over your spine and mark areas of spinal temperature difference. Significant temperature abnormalities over the spine can be an indicator of disturbance to the nerves.   The Nervo-Scope will be used on your first visit and all subsequent visits for the purpose of monitoring your progress and to assist your doctor in determining which area(s) to adjust and which to leave alone.

During the hands on portion of your exam, your doctor of chiropractic will move your spine through various ranges of motion.  Lack of spinal mobility can result in swelling and irritation within the spinal joints.  This swelling and irritation can cause a disturbance to the nerves ability to carry impulses from the brain to the body and the body to the brain.   This hands-on exam will help determine the location of your problem(s) not just the site of your pain.

The Myovision is a painless, non-invasive two part test that is safe for children, pregnant women and the elderly.  The first part of the scan, is a thermo-scan that compares the temperature on one side of your spine to the other.  Changes in blood flow can give abnormal temperature differences, which can be an indicator of nerve dysfunction.

The second step is an Electrophysiological (EP) Stress Score. The EP compares the muscle tension from the right side of the spine to the left.  Imbalances are indicators of abnormal muscle activity that can result in poor posture, improper spinal biomechanics and muscle tension.

You will receive a detailed print-out of your Myovision results on your first visit.
